ABOUT

We strive to execute our craft in a manner worthy of honor. Contrary to “industry standard,” our MW team works diligently to communicate with our clients as projects take form and all along the way, keeping you up to date and making adjustments as necessary.

We are continuously educating our team in tried-and-true methods, incorporating new products, and pushing industry standards to the next level. In addition to adding comfort, beauty, and value to your home, we want you to enjoy the remodel process with as few disruptions as possible to your normal routine.

labor + honor

OUR ETHOS

You’ll find me, Matt, wearing cowboy boots and well-worn jeans most days (but no, I'm not a cowboy).

I grew up unafraid of trying new things, acquiring my first pneumatic nail gun at age thirteen and promptly using it to build a box out of pallet material. As a kid I would go through every home furnishing magazine I could get my hands on, looking through every page—not looking at what was being sold but at the structures, fireplace mantels, crown molding details, casings and sill profiles. I would cut out pictures of styles I liked and wanted to build, which helped train my eye to notice fine detail.

In my youth, I began working with my dad, an electrician by trade. After graduating from formal schooling, I began working with trim carpenters, excavators, and everything in between. Through this exposure to construction, design, and fabrication, I began incorporating acquired skills into building custom furniture.

At the age of nineteen, I started a small construction company specializing in residential service work, which turned into full-scale remodeling projects in the suburbs of Chicago . . . known today as MW Craftsman, Inc.

I’m attracted to simple, clean lines which honor proper proportions that history has solidified.

I thrive on problem-solving no matter how unique the solution needs to be. Taking care of people and meeting their needs brings me great joy, whether it’s at work or at home.

My wife and I enjoy hosting friends for dinner in our home. From serving complex flavors that comfort the soul to smoked meats prepared in our backyard, we love to host! Oh, and FYI, sweets really are my weakness.

If I had to choose where to spend any given day, it would be on a boat in the water with my wife.

Cos joined our team in 2021, and quickly took on the role of field technician. . . . What does this mean? It means if we need to read the directions and figure something out, Cos is on it!

With a varied background in electrical work and building maintenance to the industry of high-end hospitality, he takes care of details. He keeps an eye on the final product and quality experience for our clients. Off the job, Cos is an accomplished chef of many different cuisines, always sharing his delicious masterpieces with his wife and pooch, "Scout."

COSMIN

Andres came recommended by one of our subtrades a few years ago and we are very thankful for the recommendation! We spoke briefly on the phone and since then that is how we work together—we make a plan and go to work.

Andres is the glue of our operation. He faithfully keeps track of so many details: tool repairs, equipment maintenance, as well as all things onsite. He is a trusted member of our team and we are grateful for his kindness day in and day out. He loves to spend his off time with his lovely wife and daughter.

ANDRES

Becky was brought on as a "HELP!" She has put forth extensive effort into our brand: website, photography, social media, graphic design and customer experience.

Throughout her time of doing all of this, she has also taken the reins of so many details within our company's internal systems. Becky's background is stacked with experience and we are fortunate to have tapped into her organized creativity. Based in Virginia, we have yet to fully sell her on moving back to the windy city winters. . . .
